DETECTIVE STORIES: THE SYSTEM OF EVENTS AND CHARACTERS

The article examines the development of the detective genre in modern Kazakh literature using the stories “The Masters Truth” by T. Berikkyzy, “Death of Brothers” by E. Beisenov, “Million” by A. Baibol, “Destruction Committed by Two” by K. Shamakhayuly, “Toy Egg” by Zh. Kalibekkyzy, “Revenge of the Lonely” by G. Nurkhanova, “Bloody Picture” by A. Zhusanbay, and “Wolves Prowling the Night” by K. Gumarov as examples. Although the genre, which arouses the reader's interest, occupies an important place in world literature, Kazakh writers also contribute various crimes from social life to the development of this genre. Based on specific works, an analysis was made of how writers used methods characteristic of detective fiction, such as “playing with the reader”, “deceiving the reader”, “suspense”, “playing on nerves”, “false leads”, and “misleading the reader”. In keeping with the nature of the genre, these works are also based on mysterious crimes committed under various circumstances, and the adventures of solving these crimes captivate the reader.
In a comparative-typological, structural, and literary-theoretical analysis of the system of events, the sequential development of events in detective stories was characterized by a narrative opening with a mysterious crime, a gradual development of events, an escalation of conflict, conflict between characters, a climax, and a resolution. The analysis of the character system was based on monologues, speeches, actions, and movements, as well as the life principles of major and minor characters, such as the investigator and the criminal. The importance of artistic details in solving a mysterious crime was determined and their role in shaping the plot and compositional integrity was demonstrated. The study found that modern Kazakh detective stories artistically depict social problems and criminal phenomena in society, and that such works help readers reflect on moral values.
