Abstract

This article examines the pedagogical possibilities of using the Sufi poetry of Ahmet Yassawi, especially his hikmets, as an effective motivational tool in the context of second language teaching. Based on the cultural, educational, and linguistic value of spiritual poetry, the study examines the positive impact of using authentic and meaningful texts on students' foreign language learning. The proposed motivational method is particularly relevant in English language teaching, as meaningful texts that can integrate our traditions and customs into students' consciousness help them identify with their cultural environment and increase their affective and critical activity. Hikmets are recognized as an important component of the language learning process, developing meaningful emotional diversity and critical thinking skills with a deep moral and philosophical foundation. In addition, the article discusses specific pedagogical strategies for integrating hikmets into pedagogical practice, showing that they complement traditional language teaching methods.

The results of this study showed that spiritually and culturally rich poetic texts can be an invaluable tool in language teaching. An increase in student motivation, expansion of their vocabulary, and development of intercultural competence were also noted.
