The article is devoted to a comprehensive study of the phenomenon of the antihero in modern Kazakh literature and its substantive connection with the humanistic trend of prose. The antihero is considered as an alternative type of literary character, opposed to the traditional hero, based on the ideals of valor, determination and social activity. Unlike the classical hero, the antihero is an internally split personality, experiencing moral doubts, existential searches and emotional crises, which reflects the in-depth attention of modern literature to individual psychology and spiritual experience. The study analyzed the artistic features of a number of prose works (“Süyekshi” (“The Gravedigger”) by Dulat Isabekov, “Aqshoqyda qys qattı” (“The Severe Winter in Aqshoqy”) by Tolen Abdik, “Aq boz üi” (“The White Yurt”) by Smagul Elubai, and “Ańyzdyń aqyry” (“The End of the Legend”) by Abish Kekilbaev) using comparative, literary and contextual approaches. The key features of the antihero are identified: refusal to actively fight, internal vulnerability, the desire to preserve human dignity in the face of spiritual and social pressure. Particular attention is paid to how the images of antiheroes become exponents of the humanistic ideas of the time, contribute to a rethinking of the concepts of heroism, duty and moral choice. To sum up, the antihero appears not as a negative character, but as an artistic bearer of internal conflicts and moral reflection, which makes him a significant tool for understanding human existence and expressing the cultural and spiritual dynamics of modern Kazakh literature.
