This article examines the implementation of interdisciplinary integration among students of the educational program 6В07154 – “Automation and Control” through applied mathematical problems. The main objective of the study is to teach students how to solve applied problems that can foster interest in mathematics. The use of subject-based instruction in the context of interdisciplinary integration makes it possible to align knowledge at different levels and to overcome the contradiction between theoretical mastery of the material and the need for its practical application in real-life situations.
The article substantiates the necessity of interdisciplinary integration not only for acquiring mathematical knowledge from a theoretical perspective but also for understanding its applied significance and enabling students to apply their knowledge in new contexts and practice. The ways and outcomes of enhancing students’ cognitive interest and quality of knowledge through subject integration are identified.
Integration in education expands the potential of the pedagogical process and creates opportunities for the application of innovative teaching technologies. The study revealed the effectiveness of introducing interdisciplinary links in teaching elements of probability theory and statistics. The developed methodology is aimed at improving students’ learning outcomes, fostering research skills, and developing functional literacy. The results of the pedagogical experiment confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed methodology: solving real-life problems, conducting research projects, and using digital tools increased students’ interest in mathematics.
The findings of the study provide a foundation for identifying pedagogical mechanisms that can raise mathematics education to a new qualitative level.
