Abstract

The article investigates the idiostylic features of Abdizhamil Nurpeisov, a prominent representative of modern Kazakh literature, from a linguocognitive perspective based on the novel «The Last Duty». The purpose of the study is to determine the semantic and cognitive nature of metaphorical models in the writer's idiostyle. In this regard, the linguocognitive interpretation of the concepts «Trail», «Sea», «Way» and the author's descriptive tools in the novel are analyzed. Linguocognitive, stylistic-statistical (quantitative counting method), conceptual, and linguostylistic methods of analysis were used in the study. The theoretical part examines the scientific foundations of the concept of idiostyle and identifies the features of the individual author's style. During the analysis, the writer's figurative word usage, conceptual metaphors, methods of personification, association, and symbolization are examined in terms of their function in revealing the psychology of the characters. From the linguistic material collected from the text of the novel, repeating, monotonous structures were filtered out, and 90 main representative language units vividly reflecting the author's style were selected for quantitative-qualitative analysis. During the stylistic-statistical analysis, it was found that 36.7% are expressive-dynamic onomatopoeic and figurative words, 21.1% are conceptual comparisons and portrait phrases based on national cognition, 17.8% represent the concept «Sea», which is the main dominant of the author's world picture, 13.3% are ethno-marked portrait-dialect models, and 11.1% comprise the metaphorical structures of the concepts «Trail» and «Way». As a result of the study, it is proved that through conceptual metaphors, A.Nurpeisov deeply reflects the philosophical connection between man and nature, forming an independent artistic system that deepens psychologism. The results of the study will serve as a basis for creating the writer's authorial lexicography and recognizing his idiostyle. The relevance of the article is determined by the need to identify the writer's worldview, the system of authorial concepts, and the features of the formation of cognitive models in a literary text through a linguocognitive study of the idiostyle.
