PSYCHOLOGICAL AND PEDAGOGICAL ASPECTS OF DEVELOPING THE RESEARCH POTENTIAL OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

The article provides a comprehensive analysis of the psychological and pedagogical aspects
of developing the research potential of international students in the context of the globalization of higher
education. The main objective of the study is to identify personal, motivational, and socio-pedagogical factors
that contribute to the development of international students as full-fledged subjects of research activity within
the academic environment.
The authors examine research potential as a multidimensional phenomenon and substantiate the
significant role of intrinsic motivation, academic self-efficacy, socio-cultural adaptation, pedagogical support,
and the characteristics of the educational environment in its formation. In addition, through the analysis of
psychological and pedagogical aspects, key factors that enhance international students’ interest in research
activities are identified.
The research findings include practical recommendations aimed at creating favorable conditions for the
effective use and further development of international students’ scientific potential. The empirical study was
conducted among international students at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The results demonstrate that
systematic engagement of international students in research activities increases their cognitive activity,
enhances academic autonomy, and positively influences their professional self-development. Based on the
obtained results, psychological and pedagogical recommendations for the effective development of
international students’ research potential are proposed.
