In the context of rapid digitalisation and tha dominance of online communication, modern children face new challenges in the process of socialisation. Increasing dependence on gadgets and the virtual world negatively affects the development of empathy, emotional intelligence, and the value orientations of the younger generation. This study aims to identify the key role of neighbourhood youth clubs as a significant factor in children’s socialisation and upbringing. The methodological foundation of the research is the environmental approach, which allows for a comprehensive analysis of the influence of surroundings on a child’s personality development. The study involved an in-depth analysis of scientific literature and the regulatory framework governing the activities of youth and adolescent associations. In addition, a sociological survey was conducted among both parents and children to identify their perceptions of leisure activities and existing barriers. The collected data clearly indicate that one of the main obstacles to full and engaging leisure time, according to both groups of respondents, is the lack of cultural and recreational facilities in residential areas. At the same time, there is a high level of interest among children in the functioning of neighbourhood clubs, particularly in organising sports sections and creative activities.
Based on the data analysis, the study concludes that neighbourhood clubs possess significant, yet underutilising potential for creating a favourable educational environment. These clubs can serve as a platform for the development of socially important qualities, effective resistance to the negative impact qualities, effective resistance to the negative impact of the digital environment, and the organisation of meaningful and productive leisure time for children adolescents with in the their immediate community.
The article highlights the need for systematic governmental and community support for neighbourhood clubs as on important tool for strengthening families and developing local communities.
